Culturally & Faith-Sensitive Counselling in Cardiff
A space where your cultural background and faith are understood, not sidelined.
Counselling That Understands Your Context
Many mainstream counselling approaches don't fully account for the cultural, family, or faith context clients bring with them. This service is different — it starts from the understanding that your background isn't something to set aside in the room, but part of who you are and how you experience your struggles.
Whether it's navigating family expectations, cultural identity, faith-related questions, or the specific pressures that can come with being part of a minority ethnic community in the UK, this is a space built around genuine cultural sensitivity.
Specialist Experience
I currently work within the BAME Bereavement Project at CCAWS, providing faith and culturally sensitive counselling for clients from minority ethnic backgrounds. This work has included community engagement — raising mental health awareness within local communities, co-producing workshops with community organisations, and facilitating a monthly women's wellbeing group in collaboration with local communities.
This isn't a generic add-on to my practice — it's grounded in ongoing, direct community work, alongside my BACP-registered, person-centred training.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does culturally sensitive counselling mean?
It means your cultural background, family expectations, and faith (if relevant to you) are understood as part of your context, not overlooked or treated as a barrier to be worked around.
Do I need to be religious to book this service?
Not at all. This service is for anyone who wants their cultural background respected in counselling, whether or not faith plays a role in your life.
Is this counselling specific to one faith or community?
No — the approach is about genuine cultural and faith sensitivity for clients from a range of minority ethnic backgrounds, not affiliation with any single faith or community.
